Attaching personalised number plates

To attach personalised number plates, you will need to bring the following items to a transport and motoring customer service centre. If you live in a rural area, contact a QGAP office, Magistrates Court or local police station that provides vehicle registration services—please call to confirm before visiting:

• a completed remove and/or attach personalised/customised number plates application (F2964)
• evidence of identity—for one registered operator of the vehicle and all plate owners.
• your old plates to surrender (but do not remove them from the vehicle until you arrive at the customer service centre). You do not need to surrender personalised number plates if you are keeping the plate number.

The personalised plates must be attached to your vehicle within 1 day of lodging this application. You are responsible for ensuring that your number plates are visible.

Removing personalised number plates

To remove personalised number plates, you will need to bring the following items to a transport and motoring customer service centre. If you live in a rural area, contact a QGAP office, Magistrates Court or local police station that provides vehicle registration services—please call to confirm before visiting:

• a completed remove and/or attach personalised/customised number plates application (F2964)
• the standard plate fee, unless an exemption applies. You will receive a set of standard number plates—you must attach number plates within 1 day of receiving them.
• evidence of identity— for one registered operator of the vehicle and all plate owners.

Cancelling personalised number plates

To cancel personalised plates either attached to your vehicle or not attached to a vehicle, you will need to bring the following items to a transport and motoring customer service centre. If you live in a rural area, contact a QGAP office, Magistrates Court or local police station that provides vehicle registration services—please call to confirm before visiting:

• a completed cancel of personalised/customised plate form (F5339) signed by all plate owners
• evidence of identity—for all plate owners.
• a standard plate fee, if removing personalised plates and attaching standard plates. You will receive a set of standard number plates—you must attach number plates within 1 day of receiving them.
• the personalised number plates being cancelled must be handed in when you submit your application.
